Specialties of Dr. Wainer

Platelet-rich plasma with enhanced healing properties is extracted from the patient’s blood and then injected directly into affected joints. PRP has a success rate of 70-80% in alleviating discomfort and promoting healing in tendon and muscle injuries with continued improvement over the next several months after the treatment. Dr. Wainer can help you jump start your body’s healing process with PRP Therapy.
Dr. Wainer specializes in injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system, including bones, joints, tendons, ligaments and nerves. As an orthopedist, Dr. Wainer assists patients of all ages through: diagnosis of the injury or disorder; treatment of the condition; rehabilitation o restore movement, strength and function; and preventing injury or slowing the progression of diseases.

GENERAL ORTHOPEDICS

In an arthroscopic examination, Dr. Wainer makes a small incision in the patient's skin and then inserts instruments that magnify and illuminate the structures inside the joint. This lets Dr. Wainer see the cartilage and ligaments to determine the amount or type of injury and then repair or correct the problem, if necessary.

ARTHROSCOPY

The quadriceps-sparing, minimally invasive total knee replacement reduces post- operative discomfort by sparing the quadriceps muscle and tendon that are traditionally cut through during a normal total knee replacement surgery. A computer gives Dr. Wainer constant feedback during the procedure to provide the best possible outcome for the patient.
Recent advances in total knee replacement surgery have enabled Dr. Wainer to begin performing the surgeries on an outpatient basis. For qualified patients this can mean going home on the same day as the surgery, with reduced post-operative pain, increased range of motion and overall improved outcome.

Black and white illustration of a knee with underlying joints visible. Hands are holding it to show that the knee is in pain.
In a partial knee replacement, Dr. Wainer only replaces the damaged compartment of the knee with man-made materials. The healthy cartilage and bone in the rest of the knee is left alone. Partial knee replacement offers several advantages over total knee replacement surgery. Dr. Wainer can let you know if you are a potential candidate for an Oxford® Partial Knee Replacement.
